Applying Schengen Visa from French Embassy Online

Every information you need is now available on the new France-Visas website. After filling the visa application form, you will be redirected to the on-line appointment and tracking systems of VFS Global.

Applications can be made earliest three (3) months before the planned entry.
How much is Schengen Visa?
The visa-processing fee is EUR 60. The fee is non-refundable even if application is unsuccessful.
What are the requirements in applying Schengen Visas?
1. Signed and filled up Schengen Visa Application Form (click this) with photo attached, plus 1 additional photo.
Photo Specification
- Color photo taken against white background;
- Clear and of good quality;
- Printed on normal photographic paper;
- 45 mm high x 35 mm wide in size
- Taken with nothing covering the face, without sunglasses or tinted spectacles, or a head covering
- The subject should have their mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows) and the applicant should be facing forwarding, looking straight ahead.
2. Valid passport with 3 months validity from the end of visa duration. Photo copy of valid and former visas, if any.
3. Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip and detailed itinerary. If you don’t have this, you have to write one on the spot before they will accept your requirements. Here is the cover letter addressed to the Honorable Consul I made in 2007.
4. Details of your trip
- Round trip ticket reservation. Reservations only.
- Itinerary of the whole duration including departure and arrival dates.
- Accommodations – hotel vouchers, seriously. If you’re staying with a good friend who is a French resident/national, then you need them to provide you with something called Attestation d’accueil (Certificate of Board and Lodging) and your host’s national identity card or residence permit.
Why I said good friend? Because it’s a lot of trouble for them to get this. If you have a French national host, just cut and paste below list for the document you needed from them. These are basically records of their existence in France such as title of property or contract of lease, utility billing statement as address proof, bank statements, medical records, pay slip, and finally they have to go to the city hall to have all these certified. Like I said, lots of trouble. :)
The attestation d’accueil is a form needed to be presented to the City Hall with the following documents:
5. Proof of employment
- Certificate of employment stating monthly salary and approved leave of absence.
- If self employed, official business registration for current and previous year.
6. Proof of Income
- Income Tax Return
- Recent Bank Certification
- Photocopy of the last 3 months statement of Account of the same bank account.
- If someone other than yourself is paying for the the trip, then submit financial document of the sponsor instead.
7. Identity / Marital Status:
- Photocopy of First page of Passport and all relevant obtained visas
- Authenticated birth certificate from NSO. If married, bring photocopy of your marriage contract.
8. Travel insurance that covers the entire duration of your intended stay with minimun coverage EUR 30,000. The medical policies must state the following points :
- Medical attention and treatment will be given in case of illness or accident
- The injured or ill traveller can be transported home for treatment + body repatriation in case of death
- The insurance coverage is a least 30 000 euros (50 000 US dollars)
- The insurance must be valid for all 25 Schengen member states which should be listed on the policy
- The insurance company must be re-insured, the name of the re-insurer and his TOLL FREE phone number must be listed on the policy
- The policy must allow CASHLESS SETTLEMENTS of claims. The name of the company in charge of such settlements and their toll free number must be clearly stated on the policy.

Hi wanderlass… Is it possible to apply 2x 90days tourist visa in a year? I know its written Lang 90days in 6months. Does that mean 2x 90 days in 1 year is Allowed? Tnx! Jessie
yes i believe thats what it means
my friend was denied of visa by the FR embassy this morning. any suggestion? her destination is Paris and in her iterinary includes germany and Nederlands.
all her booking is set on the 12th of July. she needs help. please! any suggestions
Hi Melo, i’m nervous too on July 5,11am for my result…what’s the reason why she got denied?
the letter says that “her intention to leave the territory could not be ascertain”. I just told her to make an appeal.
^melo – Your friend was supposed to travel alone? Her tickets are booked na?
yes, she is travelling alone. herticket is reserved. her hotels were booked already.
Carla, congratz pala…I’ll get my result on July 5,11pm…at window 1.
@Melo: What type of Visa did she applied for? Maybe she could reapply after 6 weeks I believe. For the booking, did she already buy the round trip plane ticket? Purchasing a plane ticket when just applying is not advisable, as your friend will only need a confirmed round trip reservation plane ticket or the itinerary with contact numbers of the airlines. It usually 5-7 days expiration (Most of the ticketing agency know about it, and you will just need to tell them that you will be applying for a Visa). For the booking, if she already paid the plane ticket, she could probably ask the ticketing agency to cancel the booking.
kimberly,
she applied for a tourist visa. there’s no problem with her bookings. it can all be cancelled or move.
she will not reapply but will lodge an appeal instead. and now she’s trying to get a schedule for an appeal via phone.
hi!im abut to apply for visa.how can i reserve for plane tickets, can i go online for it?because it seems on wesbite they are already asking for your master card or any other.thanks
hi… you can try calling qatar airways for reservation… yung kasi ginamit ko.. try calling them pag malapit ka na maglodge ng application… kasi few days lang kasi ang reservation… then they will email your flight itinerary… print mo na lang… then that’s fine…
thanks for the reply. hmm like how many days kaya?kasi ang visa application ko is start pa ng august.mabilis lang naman kasi anf study visa eh,diba? sa italy kasi ang punta ko pag natuloy. are you going in italy din ba?
Hello all! My Schengen visa from the Netherlands embassy just arrived. I honestly didn’t expect they’d approve me because I don’t even have a job. Anyway, this site has been a great help to me and my family (who also applied). Can’t wait to see Europe!
Hello Dana..
I’ll be having my interview on March 6, can i ask for some tips?
Family visit visa ang aapplyan ko..
Ms. Wanderlass,..
I shall have my appointment next week.. should I put all the requirements in a folder? sorry.. silly question pero I really have no idea. And the picture I believe is pasted and not stapled, am I right? waaahhh.. I can feel the anxiety na.. I hope everything works well.. *sigh
Just put it on any envelope that your documents would fit in. You will all take them out when you are at the counter during your interview. You could use paper clip where you could clip you photo on the application form so it would not be missed placed and paste one photo as well on the form. Good luck.
Thank you Lavinia for answering my question. Yep, all set for next week. I am keeping fingers crossed and hopefully, they will grant me a VISA. Goodness, I am feeling the anxiety na!!!! ^^
Hi! Anyone here getting a Visa for Italy? My flight is on Saturday, yet im still waiting for my visa with no assurance if my application is approved or rejected :( I already moved my flight once last june14 because they were still asking for something. The neerrrvvveee! >.< They sent me a notice last week asking for my birth certificate and some documents. I think they will deny me beause i didnt enroll last semester to give way for my trip. In short im not enrolled. And theyre asking for my school stuffs and all. And they will see in my birthcert that I was born there so that might be neither a positive or nega factor because they might think that im gonna be a TNT there. Goossshh im sooo nervous :c
hi!are you applying for study visa?
how did you get your health insurance?how much is it?thanks, hope to hear from you soon.
You mean you already bought a round trip plane ticket without the Visa yet? Only flight itinerary reservation is needed and purchasing plane ticket is not yet advisable if you are just applying. You could tell the ticketing agency that you will be applying for Schengen Visa and you will need a confirmed itinerary reservation round trip ticket (No payment is required since its just a reservation ticket that you will present at the embassy). The validity of the reservation usually is 5- 7 business days. The itinerary must have the contact numbers that the embassy could contact for further review. In regard to the requirements that they require from you that you have to go back to submit, it is stated on the checklist that the embassy might require additional requirements. It is better that you comply with the requirements for the possibility of the approval. That’s how Schengen states are, they would ask you to go back if they would want you to submit a specific requirement, unlike applying for a US Visa, wherein in an application could be rejected if a requirement is missing,.

Hi Miss, gusto ko lang po sana itanong kung kailangan ko ba ng Medical Clearance for Schengen Visa? MAy application po kasi ako sa July 4, 2011 sa German Embassy. your response will be very much appreciated po.
If you would be applying for tourist visa with or without a host, you would not need medical clearance, however, you will need a medical insurance from accredited travel insurance company.
anyone have tried belgium embassy?
