Applying Schengen Visa from French Embassy Online
The process in applying for Schengen Visa through the French Embassy has changed since I applied in 2007 and 2011. It is now more efficient with the submission of documents done online.
Every information you need is now available on the new France-Visas website. After filling the visa application form, you will be redirected to the on-line appointment and tracking systems of VFS Global.
Philippine passport holders are required Schengen visa to visit one or more of the states in the Schengen Region in Europe. This visa is valid in all Schengen states for a stay of up to 90 days within a six-month period for a visit, tourism or business. It is not valid for employment.

When to apply for Schengen Visa?
Applications can be made earliest three (3) months before the planned entry.
How much is Schengen Visa?Â
The visa-processing fee is EUR 60. The fee is non-refundable even if application is unsuccessful.
What are the requirements in applying Schengen Visas?
1. Signed and filled up Schengen Visa Application Form (click this) with photo attached, plus 1 additional photo.
Photo Specification
- Color photo taken against white background;
- Clear and of good quality;
- Printed on normal photographic paper;
- 45 mm high x 35 mm wide in size
- Taken with nothing covering the face, without sunglasses or tinted spectacles, or a head covering
- The subject should have their mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows) and the applicant should be facing forwarding, looking straight ahead.
2. Valid passport with 3 months validity from the end of visa duration. Photo copy of valid and former visas, if any.
3. Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip and detailed itinerary. If you don’t have this, you have to write one on the spot before they will accept your requirements. Here is the cover letter addressed to the Honorable Consul I made in 2007.
4. Details of your trip
- Round trip ticket reservation. Reservations only.
- Itinerary of the whole duration including departure and arrival dates.
- Accommodations – hotel vouchers, seriously. If you’re staying with a good friend who is a French resident/national, then you need them to provide you with something called Attestation d’accueil (Certificate of Board and Lodging) and your host’s national identity card or residence permit.
Why I said good friend?  Because it’s a lot of trouble for them to get this. If you have a French national host, just cut and paste below list for the document you needed from them.  These are basically records of their existence in France such as title of property or contract of lease, utility billing statement as address proof, bank statements, medical records, pay slip, and finally they have to go to the city hall to have all these certified. Like I said, lots of trouble. :)
The attestation d’accueil is a form needed to be presented to the City Hall with the following documents:
5. Proof of employment
- Certificate of employment stating monthly salary and approved leave of absence.
- If self employed, official business registration for current and previous year.
6. Proof of Income
- Income Tax Return
- Recent Bank Certification
- Photocopy of the last 3 months statement of Account of the same bank account.
- If someone other than yourself is paying for the the trip, then submit financial document of the sponsor instead.
7. Identity / Marital Status:
- Photocopy of First page of Passport and all relevant obtained visas
- Authenticated birth certificate from NSO. If married, bring photocopy of your marriage contract.
8. Travel insurance that covers the entire duration of your intended stay with minimun coverage EUR 30,000. The medical policies must state the following points :
- Medical attention and treatment will be given in case of illness or accident
- The injured or ill traveller can be transported home for treatment + body repatriation in case of death
- The insurance coverage is a least 30 000 euros (50 000 US dollars)
- The insurance must be valid for all 25 Schengen member states which should be listed on the policy
- The insurance company must be re-insured, the name of the re-insurer and his TOLL FREE phone number must be listed on the policy
- The policy must allow CASHLESS SETTLEMENTS of claims. The name of the company in charge of such settlements and their toll free number must be clearly stated on the policy.

Your visa is valid for 90 days only. It may be valid until September 9 but you will have exceeded already the 90 days by then.

Hi Atasha,
I have an appointment din kasi sa netherland embassy next month after our wedding. Anu ung mga requirements na sinubmit mu? Meron na din ako invitation letter from my fiance. Iba naman ung case ko kasi getting married ako sa polish national next month dito sa pinas. After we got married mag file ako ng schengen visa to poland.
I’m back here.I received the letter from the embassy in Bangkok today and it tells why my visa was denied and the reason is that because i didn’t proved that me and my host have met.Its true because I didn’t submit the copy of my host passport showing that he been in the Philippines. Its so funny because that time when i had my interview,i have print outs of our photos but I didn’t submit it coz i was waiting for them to ask for it.Its my first time so i really don’t know I should volunteer and give it to them.
My question now is if I will file an appeal or reapply?my boyfriend is planning to visit me here again on September so I don’t know what i should do.Advise please and anyone knows how to make an appeal?I have read in a blog that i am not allowed to submit new documents. Is that true? so how can i prove them if i will not submit new documents? Advise please thanks.
It would be best if your boyfriend will be the one who will file an appeal to the migration office in Sweden. I’m just not familiar how many days are given in order for you to lodge the appeal for Sweden. I believe that on the document that has been given to you that has the reason why the application was denied has instructions on how the appeal can be lodge. Your boyfriend can state on the appeal that he is a natural born Swedish and is inviting you (include how many months) He should also emphasize that you have applied for visa (Date, Place) and unfortunately was denied. He should also include that he is capable of supporting you while you spend your vacation in Sweden. Tell him to be nice on the letter of appeal and that the intention is just vacation and you will go back to your country after the duration of your intended stay. Good luck.
Maricar,
u can make an appeal after 3 months thats what i heard from my friend who also inviting me to sweden that if u get deniead u can make an appeal after 3 months . . .
Denied yung Visa ko.
The information provided about the purpose and conditions of the intended stay were not credible. (Language Course for 3months)
Their intention to depart, before the expiry of the visa from the territory of the Member States could not be found. (I am enrolled in two different college, semester of the first college will end on August and the other will end on November. My target flight is on September-November.)
What can I do? :S
Sorry to hear that, Joseph! Apila ka na gad! U’ll never know.. baka um-OK din. ^^
Sorry about that Joseph. What to do next? Try other european countries. Then just cross the border going to Germany. Or might as well avoid that country??? hehehe To hell with the germans!
question lang po… do i need to present a letter coming from my friend that he is inviting me to visit Belgium? my interview will be on July 7… anyone been to Belgium Embassy? thanks in advance
ano usually mga question? thanks!
hi, pls help. my flight was cancelled yesterday because i didn’t know i need a schengen visa even i have only connecting flights to amsterdam and budapest, my final destination is macedonia. and now im looking for flight which will not pass this european countries, but they said if i will pass only 1 europe country its ok, is that true? i found 1 flight on July 7, and its manila-amsterdam-turkey and macedonia. Do i still need a Schengen visa? if i need, are the requirements stated above are the same documents i need for transit? how long it will take? pls give me advise, its my wedding day and i don’t want to resched it again. pls pls pls help. thanks!
i don’t know the answer. i hope someone could help u as this blog post has turned into some kind of forum. lol
Christie,
I dont think you will need a schengen visa as you will just be staying within the airport and will not pass through the immigration of that particular country. Others just stayed inside the plane if its just for the refueling of the plane.
Just dont leave the airport and you don’t have to worry about being in-transit.
I hope that this late reply helps.
