As much as I love traveling, packing had never been my favorite thing to do. Even if I have a packing list I’ve referred to since my first solo trip, I could never be done in a few minutes. I would procrastinate and finally end up sleepless the night before my trip. It’s really bad if it’s a scuba trip with early dives scheduled the next day.
The thing is I’m not a very organized person and I struggle to carry minimal items. I used to just pile everything on top of each other when I pack. So needless to say, it was chaos every time I needed to take something out. I was very enlightened a few years ago when a travel mate taught me to organize my stuff using plastic bags. Shirts in one bag, bottoms in another, and so on. Wow, that was definitely a light bulb moment for me.
Packing had become easier since but surely plastic bag has its limitation, specially if one has bad memory and can’t remember which color plastic holds which item. That’s why I didn’t waste time when I first learned of mesh type packing cubes revolutionized by Eagle Creek. It remains one of my best travel companion keeping everything in order and even packing has become easier. So even if I procrastinate and start late, I can do it faster.
How about you? I know there are those people who love packing and do it way ahead of time. Please share your tried and tested solution and have a chance to win one Eagle Creek Organized Traveler Cube Set still courtesy of our favorite store R.O.X. Philippines.

Travel light. It’s easier for the traveller, and instead of spending more time and energy lugging heavy bags on your trip, you could focus more on what you went on a trip for. Makes for a stress-free and more enjoyable trip. Never forget to bring medicine which you regularly take but might not be available at the place you’ll be visiting. Find the perfect travelling bag. One that can be secured when closed but would give you wide and easy access to all your stuff when open. Never forget to use a luggage tag. You can never tell if someone on your flight has the same bag, in the same color as yours. And last, this is a very common mistake, never overpack your bag, trying to fit everything, lalo na pag you’re on your way home, having acquired extra stuff like pasalubong. Use another bag. Pag nasira zipper, naku, big problem lalo na pag wala ka nang ibang paglalagyan ng gamit.
Be aware that many airlines have additional and ever-changing restrictions on the size and weight of carry-on bags. It can vary.. so check your airline’s website or call their hotline/customer service for details. You can also check and read the print on your e-ticket to avoid hassles and delays during check-in at the airport.
When I pack, I don’t think about what I might need, but rather what I can do without.
Pack clothes that are versatile and don’t wrinkle.. those that use mix and match to save space and lessen the load/ weight.
Bring toiletries in trial sizes.
Minimize any gadgets or electronics you’ll bring.. they can be heavy and bulky. if you aren’t sure u’ll need them then just leave them. they can be great and useful but you really want to eliminate bulk as well as expensive things that can be targets for theft as well.
Having your clothes washed in a laundry shop while traveling is usually quite easy and cheap. :)
Bring a first aid kit, some survival stuffs like water, lighter, flashlight, et. al. Accidents are very untimely and unplanned.
