As much as I love traveling, packing had never been my favorite thing to do.  Even if I have a packing list I’ve referred to since my first solo trip, I could never be done in a few minutes. I would procrastinate and finally end up sleepless the night before my trip. It’s really bad if it’s a scuba trip with early dives scheduled the next day.
The thing is I’m not a very organized person and I struggle to carry minimal items. I used to just pile everything on top of each other when I pack. So needless to say, it was chaos every time I needed to take something out. I was very enlightened a few years ago when a travel mate taught me to organize my stuff using plastic bags. Shirts in one bag, bottoms in another, and so on. Wow, that was definitely a light bulb moment for me.
Packing had become easier since but surely plastic bag has its limitation, specially if one has bad memory and can’t remember which color plastic holds which item. That’s why I didn’t waste time when I first learned of mesh type packing cubes revolutionized by Eagle Creek. It remains one of my best travel companion keeping everything in order and even packing has become easier. So even if I procrastinate and start late, I can do it faster.
How about you? I know there are those people who love packing and do it way ahead of time. Please share your tried and tested solution and have a chance to win one Eagle Creek Organized Traveler Cube Set still courtesy of our favorite store R.O.X. Philippines.

Great contest Lilliane!
I also loathe packing but to make it less stressful for me, I pack my clothes according to the sequence I’m going to use it. Like – sleepwear goes to the bottom of the backpack, stuff for long, cold bus rides are placed in an accessible area. :)
I wanna win because packing cubes makes traveling much more fun!
When i pack for a trip, first, I choose clothes, in pairs, and then roll it to save space. I just bring necessary things for a specific trip and bring extra clothing. I also put my toiletries in a separate packing cube or ziplocks to avoid spills..
Meticulous as it may sound, I bring out everything I want to bring and lay it down on the floor. Afterwhich, I give myself a good talk on how all of these things would be too heavy and how I hate carrying too much unnecessary things.
As for packing style, i use a mix of plastic bags, packing cubes and a little bit of rolling. Having a drybag also helps if you have stinky clothes that are in terrible need of washing. A little tip, always have an extra set of clothes on your daypack.
Personally, I find packing for a trip a journey in itself. :-)
Compression sacks are the my secret! Their magic especially when carrying bulky things like jackets and pants.
i categorize my stuff, digital/electronics; shirts; undies; book; toiletries. that way my stuff are organize when i arrived at the destination
i segregate according to the order of when i’ll be needing per article of clothing.. it may not save a lot of space, but at least it is convenient to just grab what’s on top.
I have 3 small bags which I use for my undergarments, electronic gadgets and chargers, and shirts because I hate to see my things being messed up inside.
i pack my clothes in ziplock bags. i squeeze most of the air out of the bags before zipping them completely, kinda like vacuum packing. this way, my clothes stay clean when something in my luggage spills or bursts (lotion or other liquids) plus it saves space! :)
That’s a really good idea! i use it to squeeze air out of a bulky jacket to fit. :)
when I pack, I roll my clothes – like shirts, polos, pants – individually to save space.
thanks for the tip Johann =)
