Applying Schengen Visa from French Embassy Online
The process in applying for Schengen Visa through the French Embassy has changed since I applied in 2007 and 2011. It is now more efficient with the submission of documents done online.
Every information you need is now available on the new France-Visas website. After filling the visa application form, you will be redirected to the on-line appointment and tracking systems of VFS Global.
Philippine passport holders are required Schengen visa to visit one or more of the states in the Schengen Region in Europe. This visa is valid in all Schengen states for a stay of up to 90 days within a six-month period for a visit, tourism or business. It is not valid for employment.

Philippine passport holders are required Schengen visa to visit one or more of these Member States. This visa is valid in all Schengen states for a stay of up to 90 days within a six-month period for a visit, tourism or business. It is not valid for employment.
When to apply for Schengen Visa?
Applications can be made earliest three (3) months before the planned entry.
How much is Schengen Visa?Â
The visa-processing fee is EUR 60. The fee is non-refundable even if application is unsuccessful.
What are the requirements in applying Schengen Visas?
1. Signed and filled up Schengen Visa Application Form (click this) with photo attached, plus 1 additional photo.
Photo Specification
- Color photo taken against white background;
- Clear and of good quality;
- Printed on normal photographic paper;
- 45 mm high x 35 mm wide in size
- Taken with nothing covering the face, without sunglasses or tinted spectacles, or a head covering
- The subject should have their mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows) and the applicant should be facing forwarding, looking straight ahead.
2. Valid passport with 3 months validity from the end of visa duration. Photo copy of valid and former visas, if any.
3. Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip and detailed itinerary. If you don’t have this, you have to write one on the spot before they will accept your requirements. Here is the cover letter addressed to the Honorable Consul I made in 2007.
4. Details of your trip
- Round trip ticket reservation. Reservations only.
- Itinerary of the whole duration including departure and arrival dates.
- Accommodations – hotel vouchers, seriously. If you’re staying with a good friend who is a French resident/national, then you need them to provide you with something called Attestation d’accueil (Certificate of Board and Lodging) and your host’s national identity card or residence permit.
Why I said good friend?  Because it’s a lot of trouble for them to get this. If you have a French national host, just cut and paste below list for the document you needed from them.  These are basically records of their existence in France such as title of property or contract of lease, utility billing statement as address proof, bank statements, medical records, pay slip, and finally they have to go to the city hall to have all these certified. Like I said, lots of trouble. :)
The attestation d’accueil is a form needed to be presented to the City Hall with the following documents:
5. Proof of employment
- Certificate of employment stating monthly salary and approved leave of absence.
- If self employed, official business registration for current and previous year.
6. Proof of Income
- Income Tax Return
- Recent Bank Certification
- Photocopy of the last 3 months statement of Account of the same bank account.
- If someone other than yourself is paying for the the trip, then submit financial document of the sponsor instead.
7. Identity / Marital Status:
- Photocopy of First page of Passport and all relevant obtained visas
- Authenticated birth certificate from NSO. If married, bring photocopy of your marriage contract.
8. Travel insurance that covers the entire duration of your intended stay with minimun coverage EUR 30,000. The medical policies must state the following points :
- Medical attention and treatment will be given in case of illness or accident
- The injured or ill traveller can be transported home for treatment + body repatriation in case of death
- The insurance coverage is a least 30 000 euros (50 000 US dollars)
- The insurance must be valid for all 25 Schengen member states which should be listed on the policy
- The insurance company must be re-insured, the name of the re-insurer and his TOLL FREE phone number must be listed on the policy
- The policy must allow CASHLESS SETTLEMENTS of claims. The name of the company in charge of such settlements and their toll free number must be clearly stated on the policy.

hi angela… nakapag-apply ka na ba? let me know…
I am a filipino and goes to uni in the UK, when i applied for schengen here, no interview no everything just a complete documents! 8 days waiting game for the result..
hiya, thank’s for the info about the places to see in the UK. im a huge english lit fan and ive heard about these places you’ve mentioned from the books that ive read. i think its better to just concentrate on the UK instead of my original plan to do a 21days UK-Europe tour, i’ll be too exhausted to appreciate a place if i already have to pack for the next destination. i’ll just do a europe only tour next time. thank’s again.
@pibi
Visa applications must be lodged at the Embassy/Consulate of the country of intended visit. If your plan is to visit several countries, visa application must be made at the Embassy/Consulate of the main destination country—meaning the length of stay in this destination is the longest. If the length of stay in each country is almost the same, apply at the country of first entry.
and regarding sa insurance… i emailed the belgium embassy… tinanong ko if i needed already the insurance policy upon lodging my application.. and they said yes….
hi angelica, will you be kind enough to give me the EMAIL ADDRESS that you used to get in touch with the Belgian embassy and also the TELEPHONE number that you used to make your appointment with them. thanks a lot. im planning to go to UK and europe 21 sept and i havent lodged my application yet, kahit nga appointment wala pa. feeling ko, kulang na ko sa oras, what do you think? hopeless case na ba? should i just postpone it? i really appreciate your help, thanks again.
hi… here’s the email add: helpdesk.dvzoe@ibz.fgov.be mejo matagal lang sila sumagot… almost 5 days bago ko nareceive yung answers ko.\
telephone numbers for Appointments for lodging visa applications
1 909 1014545 (PLDT only through landline or SMART mobile phone)
1 903 1014545 (Bayantel only through landline)
1 900 1014545 (Globe through landline and GLOBE mobile phone)
tumawag ako sa belgium embassy is june 22 ata yon… so schedule ko is july 7 for appointment for lodging of application… so parang 2 weeks and pag-iintay ko pa para makapaglodge ng application… hindi ko alam na ganon katagal… kaya na-adjust ang supposedly my date of departure… kasi sabi sakin ng operator it will take a month… dapat date of departure ko is july 27… hanggang ngayon wala pa ring result… tagal naman… but hopefully sana positive and result… so kung sa belgium embassy mag-aaply tumawag ka na agad… para ma-schedule ka agad…
thanks angelica, i called yesterday at Aug19 ang latest na naibigay nilang date for appointment. mukhang kukulangin na talaga if sept21 ang departure. isip ko postponed na lang muna kasi hindi rin pwede iadjust ang dates, naka file na ang leave from work ng sister ko na nasa australia. if you dont mind my asking, tourist visa ba ang application mo? yon kasi ang iaapply ko sana.
@pibi…
Visa to visit a friend ang inapply ko…
a must see in england: city of bath, dorset, york, oxford, newcastle and london.
a must see in scotland: edinburgh and the highlands.
a must see in wales: GO NORTH such as conwy, llanberis (snowdonia) porthmadog
in N.I. go to antrim
check, check, check! ;-)
wanderlass: sis i wana travel with u sometime/someday…sound btw, kool!
hi angelica, anong mga question nila sa belg embassy? tsaka may nag invite ba syo? i’m planning to apply din sana sa Belg. keep us posted nman s result ng application mo,,,
thanks
hi angela…
i was invited by a good friend in Belgium.
questions…. roughly 5 minutes each tinanong isa-isa… firsts: questions regarding my work… my salaries, kung meron akong leave of absence, and if paid ba yung leave of absence or not. kung how long na ako sa work. was asked if i have siblings, what is my parents doing…
second: kung nakapagtravel na ako… and if kung meron akong mga relatives in Europe.
third: regarding to my sponsor… kung sino magbabayad ng travel expenses… kung nag-meet na kami before ng friend ko… how did we meet…
then after questioning… i was asked kung french or dutch…kasi may pipirmahan ka don.. then bigay nya receipt sa’yo…
to angelica,
thanks a lot sa reply,,, sana maaprove application mo,,, balitaan mo ko ha pag may result n,,, kinakabahan kc ko eh, hehehhe…
kelan interview mo? anong visa apply mo?
hi again, 2 question again: FIRST about the travel insurance… the accredited travel insurance co. is different from each embassy of a particular schengen country and i need to present a policy upon lodging a visa application? SECOND, i plan to spend 3-5 days in the schengen areas im visiting but will be spending only one day in my point of entry-Belgium. question is, can i lodge my application at the Belgian embassy, ‘coz that’s where i plan to apply. thank you again :)
hi… yup you need a insurance policy to present….
about belgium embassy… mejo matagal and processing… i applied there last July 7… until now wala pa yung result…
konti lang naman nag-aapply sa belgium embassy… ang marami don mga seaman… applying for transit visa…. 9.10 ang appointment ko.. nag-open yung window by around 8.50… 9:05 natawag na ako.. then just submit ng application and documents required and payment… then she said.. wait for the receipt… ok.. we were just around 10 people there… except sa mga seaman na they are on different windows… so tinawag na kami ulit by 11am. tagal naming naghintay.. then 1 by 1 tinawag na kami ulit for a bit questioning.. mga around 5 minutes each… then i have the receipt.. until now no result yet… nung nagpascheduled ako, the operator told me that it 4 weeks daw… so hopefully by next week.. i will have my result…
regarding insurance policy…
i was thinking of that as well when i applied, what if i get denied (wag naman sana hahaha) ang kinuha kong insurance policy is AXA… so nabasa ko don i can refund it if ever i get denied. I emailed them as well… and all i just to do is i need to email them and show them that i was denied. regarding other insurance policy you can read some in here…
thanks again for replying. im just thinking of getting the insurance after they advice me that my application is granted. meron kasi sa website nila na ganun, “in case of approval, applicatns have to produce an original medical and travel insurance…” mas matagl ang stay ko sa italy but belgium is my point of entry so pwede kaya just o apply there kasi medyo matagal sa italian embassy.
My Aunt in Germany will be coming here in the philippines by September, and by December she will going back to Germany, She ask me and my sister to join w/her when she will go back to germany, but the problem is we don’t have enough funds in the bank, as per my aunt, she will be the one who will shoulder all the expenses, could it be possible if the documents that we will present is to my aunt’s only? even me and my sister still have a job here?!but it’s not sufficient. Thanks!
yes, it is possible.
Thanks for the feedback, by how much my aunt should have?!what are the docs that she need to submit!?thanks.
I applied my visa in Singapore (since I work here). Took almost 15 days. The funny thing is, they want me to report back to the embassy 5 days after my arrival. Naninigurado na di ako magti-TNT.
when i got my visa, there were some people who were asked to go back and report too. wonder what will happen if u don’t come report, even if u do come back.
