Every information you need is now available on the new France-Visas website. After filling the visa application form, you will be redirected to the on-line appointment and tracking systems of VFS Global.

The visa-processing fee is EUR 60. The fee is non-refundable even if application is unsuccessful.
What are the requirements in applying Schengen Visas?
1. Signed and filled up Schengen Visa Application Form (click this) with photo attached, plus 1 additional photo.
Photo Specification
- Color photo taken against white background;
- Clear and of good quality;
- Printed on normal photographic paper;
- 45 mm high x 35 mm wide in size
- Taken with nothing covering the face, without sunglasses or tinted spectacles, or a head covering
- The subject should have their mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows) and the applicant should be facing forwarding, looking straight ahead.
2. Valid passport with 3 months validity from the end of visa duration. Photo copy of valid and former visas, if any.
3. Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip and detailed itinerary. If you don’t have this, you have to write one on the spot before they will accept your requirements. Here is the cover letter addressed to the Honorable Consul I made in 2007.
4. Details of your trip
- Round trip ticket reservation. Reservations only.
- Itinerary of the whole duration including departure and arrival dates.
- Accommodations – hotel vouchers, seriously. If you’re staying with a good friend who is a French resident/national, then you need them to provide you with something called Attestation d’accueil (Certificate of Board and Lodging) and your host’s national identity card or residence permit.
Why I said good friend?  Because it’s a lot of trouble for them to get this. If you have a French national host, just cut and paste below list for the document you needed from them.  These are basically records of their existence in France such as title of property or contract of lease, utility billing statement as address proof, bank statements, medical records, pay slip, and finally they have to go to the city hall to have all these certified. Like I said, lots of trouble. :)
The attestation d’accueil is a form needed to be presented to the City Hall with the following documents:
5. Proof of employment
- Certificate of employment stating monthly salary and approved leave of absence.
- If self employed, official business registration for current and previous year.
6. Proof of Income
- Income Tax Return
- Recent Bank Certification
- Photocopy of the last 3 months statement of Account of the same bank account.
- If someone other than yourself is paying for the the trip, then submit financial document of the sponsor instead.
7. Identity / Marital Status:
- Photocopy of First page of Passport and all relevant obtained visas
- Authenticated birth certificate from NSO. If married, bring photocopy of your marriage contract.
8. Travel insurance that covers the entire duration of your intended stay with minimun coverage EUR 30,000. The medical policies must state the following points :
- Medical attention and treatment will be given in case of illness or accident
- The injured or ill traveller can be transported home for treatment + body repatriation in case of death
- The insurance coverage is a least 30 000 euros (50 000 US dollars)
- The insurance must be valid for all 25 Schengen member states which should be listed on the policy
- The insurance company must be re-insured, the name of the re-insurer and his TOLL FREE phone number must be listed on the policy
- The policy must allow CASHLESS SETTLEMENTS of claims. The name of the company in charge of such settlements and their toll free number must be clearly stated on the policy.

Hi Wanderlass
Thank you for the information though we still have some queries. My wife, daughter 19 and my son 7 years old and I is planning to travel this April 13 to 23 to Milan, Italy wherein we actually have relatives there. We are also planning to go to Paris from Milan to meet a friend who is a Flight Attendant. She has a free accommodation. My question is the Certificate of Board and Logging from Milan is enough proof even if we go around Paris? About the Medical Insurance isn’t really necessary if we are just going to stay there for 10 days?
Thank you very mush and waiting for your reply
Rudy
1 visa is enough. U can apply Italian visa and use the same to Paris. Insurance is a must to be granted visa even if you’re only staying for 1 day.
happy new year everyone!this blog had been very useful to me and i’m sure also to many. wanderlass is very right and accurate on how to present your pieces of document to the french embassy. with our experience, we just followed everything writtten by wanderlass and made sure all is in order. Details of the trip is very important. also, be cautious with your financial document, work-related document because they ask most questions from these 2 topics. Goodluck and GOD bless. enjoy europe!
Thank you Joe! Now, I can schedule my appointment before leaving. Saves me a lot of time!
Hello there! I would like to ask assistance as this is my first try in applying for a Schengen visa. I am working overseas and have asked a friend who owns a travel agency in Cebu to help me out. She sent me the documents I needed which I also read in your blog. However, I was wondering if a show money is needed in the visa application because she told me that I need to have this. She told me that the computation will be based on the duration of my stay…3 months = 250,000 php and 6 months= 500,000 php up. Another concern is that, I will be staying with my boyfriend in France for the duration of my stay and might plan on travelling to Italy and Belgium. Regarding the itinerary, do I just try to write a dummy and just put names of hotel for this? Please help me..I plan to lodge my application when I go home this February. Hope to hear from you!
Thanks,
Limei

Hello Wanderlass,
maybe you can help me and give me more information for a long stay visa, i got denied twice and after my sponsor wrote a letter to the ambassador and spoke to the consul i got the visa the next day. although the consul mentioned that the reason why i was denied due to my income..provincial rate kasi ako kaya sobrang baba ng sahod.medyo frustrating talaga nung sunod sunod na na deny ako 1 week lang ang interval apply ulit, pero sulit lahat ng efforts i was able to stay in france for 2months since 2 months lang approval ko from my boss. Now i will apply again this month pero i resigned last november 19, same sponsor naman ulit ang mag proprovide ng requirements kaso natatakot lang ako madeny ulit kasi ngayon wla na akong work..pero yung sponsor ko she’s willing to provide all the land title etc and will clearly indicate that she will be responsible and liable for my whole stay kasi gusto nila mag 1 year ako.. masmahihirapan kaya ako mag apply? or kahit paano masmapapadali na lang..
hope to hear from you soon. Big thanks!
HI JULLIA,
did you apply again after the refusal, how long your interval of your application? did you made an appeal at embassy? what’s the procees you’ve done. Appreciate if you could help me, im losing hope.. as i was refused in only one reason (pragrph9 = no intention of leaving schegen state) w/c i forwarded proof that stated on my Cert of employment allow my Leave of Absence of 2wks and return to philippines, together w/ my round trip ticket & insurance.. my sponsor will pay everthing. pls help me as my leave of absence effectivity on the 18thjan. My letter has been at Commission on appeal (CEDEX) last Dec.21 as confirm rcpt but still no response on me yet. I wanna let them know the sincerity and honesty of my visit there and i had a clear mind set to return here in the philippines as it was just a vacation, a gift of my friend to me, a post christmas gift to me.. wish they will grant my appeal and had my visa approved for a short stay.. how i love to see France, explore in 2wks as no intention of staying long and live there..
Please help me to figure out this matter, as whatelse move i’ll gonna do? My sponsor was already inform by the French embassy that he had no Hold on follow-up only me doing such part.
Please is anyone read this letter of mine and help me to work out, as my time running.

Hello Julia! I have a question too regarding this sponsorship to work in France.. Please.. Can I talk to you regarding this? PLEASE… thanks a lot :) can I have your email or skype please? :))
Do you have to leave the passport with the embassy while waiting for the VISA approval? I need my passport to travel to Dubai for 1 week.
You have an option to collect back or leave your passport. The interviewer will ask you.
how was cote d’ azur joe?
It was a wonderful place, but it would be better if I been there on summer. I visited Nice and Cannes, EZe, and Bord d’ Mer. Daming pinoy. The good thing with that part of France is the transport is not that expensive. Are you going or you been there?

Hi Liliane, I’m sorry if this question has been asked earlier. I promise I will read them all later. :)
You got a multiple entry visa from your last trip di ba? Any tips on being able to get one? I was granted a visa last 2010 but was only given single entry. The thing is 2 of my companions who were having the same itinerary as me, were given multiple entries. We were on a tour then, but I’m planning to go free and easy this time. Thanks in advanced!
hi there, they usually ask it on the application. multiple or single, i remember i applied for multiple and they have given it to me
