Hello, there! I’ve been in China 5 years ago but I do not have a copy of my old Chinese visa anymore. DFA collected my old passport the time I renewed it and I have not able to secure a copy of that. Does China embassy have a record of that or can they check in their record if I provide them the date I entered China for the first time?
They for sure have a record but they will not look for it on your behalf. If you can’t present an old visa, you might have to apply as someone who never had visa. It is strange because DFA always return the old passport upon renewal. Maybe you misplaced it lang. I have all my passports even from when I was a kid. Anyway I suggest you give them a call, the Chinese Embassy.
Good day!

Hi I have an inquiry about getting a Chinese visa or not. By the way, I am a Philippine passport holder. My sister and I will be traveling to the U.S. but we will have to stop at Shanghai for a 10 hour lay-over. Should we get visas? We weren’t sure if we were applicable with not needing visas as long as we follow the conditions of not leaving the port of entry and stay for no longer than 24 hours. I hope we do get a reply. Thanks!
1. For foreigners who hold tickets to a third country and have booked seats on international airlines, ships, trains transiting through China, if the stay is less than 24 hours, they can enjoy the 24-hour visa-free transit.
