Every information you need is now available on the new France-Visas website. After filling the visa application form, you will be redirected to the on-line appointment and tracking systems of VFS Global.

The visa-processing fee is EUR 60. The fee is non-refundable even if application is unsuccessful.
What are the requirements in applying Schengen Visas?
1. Signed and filled up Schengen Visa Application Form (click this) with photo attached, plus 1 additional photo.
Photo Specification
- Color photo taken against white background;
- Clear and of good quality;
- Printed on normal photographic paper;
- 45 mm high x 35 mm wide in size
- Taken with nothing covering the face, without sunglasses or tinted spectacles, or a head covering
- The subject should have their mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows) and the applicant should be facing forwarding, looking straight ahead.
2. Valid passport with 3 months validity from the end of visa duration. Photo copy of valid and former visas, if any.
3. Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip and detailed itinerary. If you don’t have this, you have to write one on the spot before they will accept your requirements. Here is the cover letter addressed to the Honorable Consul I made in 2007.
4. Details of your trip
- Round trip ticket reservation. Reservations only.
- Itinerary of the whole duration including departure and arrival dates.
- Accommodations – hotel vouchers, seriously. If you’re staying with a good friend who is a French resident/national, then you need them to provide you with something called Attestation d’accueil (Certificate of Board and Lodging) and your host’s national identity card or residence permit.
Why I said good friend?  Because it’s a lot of trouble for them to get this. If you have a French national host, just cut and paste below list for the document you needed from them.  These are basically records of their existence in France such as title of property or contract of lease, utility billing statement as address proof, bank statements, medical records, pay slip, and finally they have to go to the city hall to have all these certified. Like I said, lots of trouble. :)
The attestation d’accueil is a form needed to be presented to the City Hall with the following documents:
5. Proof of employment
- Certificate of employment stating monthly salary and approved leave of absence.
- If self employed, official business registration for current and previous year.
6. Proof of Income
- Income Tax Return
- Recent Bank Certification
- Photocopy of the last 3 months statement of Account of the same bank account.
- If someone other than yourself is paying for the the trip, then submit financial document of the sponsor instead.
7. Identity / Marital Status:
- Photocopy of First page of Passport and all relevant obtained visas
- Authenticated birth certificate from NSO. If married, bring photocopy of your marriage contract.
8. Travel insurance that covers the entire duration of your intended stay with minimun coverage EUR 30,000. The medical policies must state the following points :
- Medical attention and treatment will be given in case of illness or accident
- The injured or ill traveller can be transported home for treatment + body repatriation in case of death
- The insurance coverage is a least 30 000 euros (50 000 US dollars)
- The insurance must be valid for all 25 Schengen member states which should be listed on the policy
- The insurance company must be re-insured, the name of the re-insurer and his TOLL FREE phone number must be listed on the policy
- The policy must allow CASHLESS SETTLEMENTS of claims. The name of the company in charge of such settlements and their toll free number must be clearly stated on the policy.

Hi Wanderlass,
Thank you for all information you give here.
I’m french, I desire sponsor my boyfriend to obtain tourist Visa for France.
My boyfriend doesn’t have yet a job. he is student. he’ll be graduated in October.
Me i have a job, apartment but i’m not to rich, i can pay for his travel. I gone to Philippines in October to meet him for 1st time. I’ll meet him again in july but in Vietnam.
I desire too much he can see France.
Do you think he have a chance to obtain it ?
Bonjour :) your boyfriend is like my situation I was a student that went to France to visit my French boyfrien. He needs to have certificate from his school and his parents’ consent and have it notarized :) that’s what I did And I got my visa to visit my boyfriend although the relation that I put in the attestation was “friend” ONLY so they won’t think I’d stay for marriage or whatever
Hello Wanderlass, great information source.
I am planning to travel to Germany in September as a tourist; however I do not have a job to present to the embassy. My husband who works in an international manufacturing company is paying for my trip. We are supposed to travel together but his work is keeping him from the trip. What are my chances of getting a Shengen visa? Can I use his credentials to support my “rootedness here in the Phils.”?
Is employment in the philippines required to get the visa?
hi angela!
yes, it is required and part of the requirement since financial capacity plays a major role in applying the schengen visa.enjoy your vacation!
But my parents are retired and I want to sponsor for their trip to the Netherlands. Is there any chance they can get a visa without employment?
Hello miss wanderlass, I’m currently a student now and I am about to graduate next year. My friends and I wanted to go to france after graduation. But of course none of us have jobs yet. Is it really important to have employment to get the visa?
If your parents are funding your trip, get a letter of support from your parents stating that they will cover all travel costs and then have this letter notarized, you will also need your parents bank statements, as proof that they can afford it.
also maybe you could try applying for a job and if you have a job waiting for you here when you get back, that also gives them the notion that you have no plans of staying in their country… :)
I just finished college this April and will graduate in July. I won a competition that will send me to Germany for 10 days this June (and extending 7 days for Amsterdam and Paris) and in my application, what I stated above is what I did. I’m hopeful I’ll be granted a VISA! I’ll let you know if I am successful in 3-5 days :)
Hi wanderlass! This may be a bit off topic, since most queries here are regarding visa app. My sis & I are planning on a trip to Europe, hopefully, mid next year. We’re thinking of Italy, France & Germany. Basing from your own experience, what is the ideal no. of days to stay per country for us to enjoy & see lots of attractions? We want to savor each moment & not have the time chasing after us. Do you think 2-3 wks would do it? Thanks & hope to hear from you.
Glad to have stumbled upon your blog, very informative… :)
Cheers!
I use 4d/3n per city as average, then adjust when finalizing my itinerary; longer for major cities like paris or berlin, then shorter, day trip, or stopover for smaller but must go towns. Thank you for visiting my blog. :)
Good day, Is it really necessary to have a 30,000 euros travel insurance?
And how much is the minimum show money?
i hope someone here will answer my question because I’m planning on going to Paris and I’m currently budgeting everything that I might spend there..
Travel insurance is a must. You have to have it; otherwise they’ll turn you down.
With regards to money, from 65 to 100 euros per day is good enough.
hi alexis!
from our experience, the insurance will be based on the number of days of your entire trip. as per paris, it is quite expensive there so it would be safe to allocate $150/day and best to have a 500k php in your bank statement. enjoy city of lights!
Hi Wanderlass, :))))
I have an invitation for Poland. I am going to apply a Schegen visa para sakin, at sa Anak ko. My bf will cover all our expenses. I just want to asked, if what is the requirements for my child? My son is 7mons only. Kailangan ba ng Anak ko ang passport, or okay na ang birth certificate? I wish I can get visa para sa Amin ng Anak ko…first time ko po kasi kaya mejo nervous talaga ako. Please, I need your help…I hope to hear from you soooon.. Thank you soooo much!
Hello.. do they approved your schengen visa since your purpose is visiting bf? I plan to travel too to visit my bf but I worried because I heard that mostly denied if the purpose of travel is visiting bf,, please give some advice..
Hi Princess,
Anyone traveling outside of the country needs a passport. The requirements for a visa is listed on top. If your bf is covering the expenses, you need a letter from him stating that and 2 months of his bank statement. He should have enough money there to provide for the 2 of you. He also needs to get the Attestation or whatever is equivalent in Poland.
Good luck and happy travels!
BC
Do i need to attach credit card copy and billings? though its not included on the list of requirements? some travel agencies recommended it.
hi lory!
you can attach your credit card statement. happy trip!
Hello po, I am dating a french for 1 year and 4 months. He’s always planning to come to the Philippines however it is always been postponed due to his working load. So now he told me that since he’s always postponing his visits to the Philippines. We haven’t had the chance to meet in person yet and I know it is indeed scary to go to France on that aspect. So now he told me that since he’s always having a fully loaded work load then he’s asking me to visit him instead. My friend told me na something’s fishy daw kasi french people loves to travel despite being busy. Now he is asking me if I give a copy of my passport. I know it is I who needs to submit such requirement so I am wondering why he is asking such document. What do you guys think??? my email is icdrico@gmail.com
My bf is french and he visited me here in phil and we went to some parts of asia, never give your passport or other documents to stranger especially when you never meet hime in person, they might use your passport or blackmail you, sad reality but i think je is a fraud, if he is interested with you then let him come here, french governement grants 6 weeks holidays every year , so its impossible that he cannot have that, so he cannot make excuses about having loads of jobs because its obligatory to have the vacation, please dont trust easily!
Dont do it… Especially since you never met him… be very aware of internet sites .
good luck
Hi Wanderlass ! Me and my brother-in-law will be going to Paris on July to attend a convention.Do we go together as group during interview or separately ? we have the same sponsor and accomodation.
