Every information you need is now available on the new France-Visas website. After filling the visa application form, you will be redirected to the on-line appointment and tracking systems of VFS Global.

When to apply for Schengen Visa?
Applications can be made earliest three (3) months before the planned entry.
How much is Schengen Visa?Â
The visa-processing fee is EUR 60. The fee is non-refundable even if application is unsuccessful.
What are the requirements in applying Schengen Visas?
1. Signed and filled up Schengen Visa Application Form (click this) with photo attached, plus 1 additional photo.
Photo Specification
- Color photo taken against white background;
- Clear and of good quality;
- Printed on normal photographic paper;
- 45 mm high x 35 mm wide in size
- Taken with nothing covering the face, without sunglasses or tinted spectacles, or a head covering
- The subject should have their mouth closed (no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows) and the applicant should be facing forwarding, looking straight ahead.
2. Valid passport with 3 months validity from the end of visa duration. Photo copy of valid and former visas, if any.
3. Cover letter explaining the purpose of your trip and detailed itinerary. If you don’t have this, you have to write one on the spot before they will accept your requirements. Here is the cover letter addressed to the Honorable Consul I made in 2007.
4. Details of your trip
- Round trip ticket reservation. Reservations only.
- Itinerary of the whole duration including departure and arrival dates.
- Accommodations – hotel vouchers, seriously. If you’re staying with a good friend who is a French resident/national, then you need them to provide you with something called Attestation d’accueil (Certificate of Board and Lodging) and your host’s national identity card or residence permit.
Why I said good friend?  Because it’s a lot of trouble for them to get this. If you have a French national host, just cut and paste below list for the document you needed from them.  These are basically records of their existence in France such as title of property or contract of lease, utility billing statement as address proof, bank statements, medical records, pay slip, and finally they have to go to the city hall to have all these certified. Like I said, lots of trouble. :)
The attestation d’accueil is a form needed to be presented to the City Hall with the following documents:
5. Proof of employment
- Certificate of employment stating monthly salary and approved leave of absence.
- If self employed, official business registration for current and previous year.
6. Proof of Income
- Income Tax Return
- Recent Bank Certification
- Photocopy of the last 3 months statement of Account of the same bank account.
- If someone other than yourself is paying for the the trip, then submit financial document of the sponsor instead.
7. Identity / Marital Status:
- Photocopy of First page of Passport and all relevant obtained visas
- Authenticated birth certificate from NSO. If married, bring photocopy of your marriage contract.
8. Travel insurance that covers the entire duration of your intended stay with minimun coverage EUR 30,000. The medical policies must state the following points :
- Medical attention and treatment will be given in case of illness or accident
- The injured or ill traveller can be transported home for treatment + body repatriation in case of death
- The insurance coverage is a least 30 000 euros (50 000 US dollars)
- The insurance must be valid for all 25 Schengen member states which should be listed on the policy
- The insurance company must be re-insured, the name of the re-insurer and his TOLL FREE phone number must be listed on the policy
- The policy must allow CASHLESS SETTLEMENTS of claims. The name of the company in charge of such settlements and their toll free number must be clearly stated on the policy.

Hi lil, I’m coming back to the philippines this june 16. 15 days vacation in france is finally over. I’m very thankful in your tips. So very helpful talga. After a horific experience with the girl in window 1 and the 4x coming back to the embassy its all worth it. Till next time again.
Did you apply on your own or with a host?
@srm yes sa sweden ikaw ba?thankyou so much talaga ha…praying talaga na ma-approve tayo..wait ko na nga tawagan nila ako lol para malaman ko ano ba talaga haha kaka-nerbyos nga pala:) mas nakakanerbyos pa mag intay compare nung interview lol
@roselyn yes i have a sponsor yung bf ko.Very important na magbased ka dun sa checklist nila.Nagbago pa nga kasi nung first time ko nabasa ,send directly daw sa embassy yung mga papers from my host..thank God nalang binasa ko ulit kasi they updated it na dadalhin nalang daw personally yung mga papers so medjo nagcramming pa ko kasi all the papers na pinadala ng host ko is swedish so ako pa yung nagtranslate to english and then sent ko sa kanya again for signature.Pero pinasa ko pareho yung original swedish and english.Mga papers na galing sa kanya is yung bank statements nya for the last 3 mo’s and contract of employment stating yung monthly salary nya and copy of his last 3 mo’s payroll..proof parin ng income nya since sya yung gagastos sa lahat.Copy of his ID and residence certificate.Yun namang requirements ko is travel insurance, certificate of employment ko from my mom lol kasi my business naman kami and dun ako nagwowork so DTI , business permit na sa mom ko naman nakapangalan and yung ITR din ng business since wala talaga ako na sakin nakapangalan.
May part nga pala dun sa additional questionnaires na you will write something for them to approve your visa.Inilagay ko is importante sakin malaman yung culture ng boyfriend ko thats why i want to visit sweden kasi malaki talaga yung differences ng philippine culture sa culture nila which is yun talaga yung reason ko kasi madami talagang differences na gusto kong maintindihan and also na i want to meet his family kasi importante yun sa relationship. They will also ask you kung gaano na ka deep yung relationship mo sa host mo and how youre having communication…basta be confident and prove to them yung sincerity mo:) goodluck to us! Godbless
Hi Maricar. How many times did your boyfriend visited the Philippines before he invited you to visit him Sweden? What happened to me was my boyfriend visited the Philippines in December 2010 for the first time and he asked me to visit him in Switzerland this June unfortunately nadenied ako. Yun reason ko nun sa questionnaire in regard to the purpose of the trip was mainly to visit him and tourism lang. Siguro she was not convinced with my reason, tapos 3 months pa yun inaaply ko na visit visa.
Do you think kung gamitin ko yun same reason sayo yun I want to know the culture of my boyfriend and meet his family ok yun na reason? Thank you
@Maricar hello naaprove na ba ung visa mo I also want to know kasi may similarity tayo regarding sa wala din akong sariling akin pero only with my mom. Hope to hear from you guys it will helped alot thanks!
Hi Maria Isabel.,honestly you made me nervous about my result lol…actually i cant tell if okei ba yung reason ko kasi until now i dont receive any call from the embassy. But “honestly” is very important so tell them what is your real reason dapat mejo deep hwag tourism lang :)Anyway 1 week pa lang naman and then holiday pa tomorrow lol so im still full of hope.
My boyfriend visited me yes just like your bf onced palang and recently lang last march lang and yes the interviewer also asked me about that na recently lang pala so i said yes and i told her that yes he visited me with his mom..lol..
So when you knew that denied yung application mo?First time mo rin ba mag tour sa abroad? In my case kasi its my first time and she asked me many times if this is my first time and i always answered her with confident to convinced her that sincere yung motive ko pero as i have said wala pa ko result so di ko pa talaga alam..
What happened to me kasi after an hour of waiting, she called me again and told me that they will forward my application to swedish embassy in bangkok and they will be the one to decide but before i leave tinatakan nya yung passport ko and then she returned that to me so i really dont know what that means if my chance ba or talaga lang tinatatakan..
Favor naman can you tell me when they told you na denied yung application mo..The same day rin ba nung application mo or you still wait for days or weeks and then they called you that your application is denied?
And if ever ma denied ako usapan namin ng bf ko he will visit me again on january so thats fine with me pero cyempre im hoping and PRAYING that i will be given a chance to see Sweden.
Hello Maricar. Yes, same as mine I waited for an hour for my documents to be evaluated after the interview. Then after the waiting time the girl told me that my application was informally denied. My tatak din yun passport ko from the Swiss Embassy and they returned my passport to me. Then they gave me the reasons why my application was denied. I have already travelled abroad, in Hongkong, Singapore and Macau with my friends. I wonder why your application must be forwarded to Embassy of Sweden in Bangkok? Maybe you just have to wait for the result of your application and I wish you good luck. :)
@ andrea kasi sinced yung swedish embassy talaga is nasa bangkok so pinoforward nila dun yung applications and then swedish embassy yung magdedecide. In your case kasi sa switzerland talaga yung destination mo so sila na talaga yung nagdedecide kasi swiss embassy naman talaga yun.Wala na kasing swedish embassy dito so swiss embassy na lang yung nagte-take over when it comes to swedish visa..pero i read na when it comes to other concerns sa swedish embassy we have a consulate naman ,yung visa applications lang and pinoforward sa bangkok…
Thanks for the prayers..sobrang nakakaba na talaga.I hope to hear from the embassy tomorrow.
@ icc wala pang result ..ill let you know guys…please say a prayer for me :)
@Maricar: Thanks for the tip maricar me too i feel good that okay at friendly ang swiss embassy.

hi @ srm..hindi naman mahirap yung mga questions nila kasi all of the questions naman is about sayo din and sa host mo.Para lang nagkukwentuhan so dont be so nervous. They are friendly and syempre you need to be friendly din siguro:)Pero pagpasok ko pa lang sa counter room nila she greeted me hello agad so nawala talaga yung nervous ko…
Its my very first time to apply for a visa and Godswilling my first time to travel abroad.Mga questions lang sakin is about sa host ko and dun sa business namin kasi yung business permit na dala ko is sa mom ko nakapangalan so she asked me lot of questions..parang shes making sure that mother ko talaga yun.She also asked if i have my birth certificate with me pero i told her wala naman sa requirements so wala akong dala but i showed her a zerox copy of my moms ID so i guess yun yung nagpa- convinced sa kanya. The people working there are all young pa.I mean maybe 20-30 lang. She also asked about my host and sino yung gagastos..I just noticed that may mga questions na para bang hinuhuli ka lang nila if totoo or hindi yung mga sinulat mo sa application form mo so syempre if youre not telling any lies no reason para matakot ka.Dont worry sa interview.Kapag complete yung requirements mo wala na masyadong questions.
And may nakausap ako dun,she told me after 1 week,i will receive a call from the embassy if okei na yung papers ko and when they asked me to bring my passport sa embassy, sure na daw yun so eto wait talaga ako..
I just hope everything is okei:)
Hi Maricar, Thank you for the tips. I really appreciate it.

hello Wonderlass good day!
ask ko lang po if ok lang po ba if wla na muna akong ma present na insurance coz my bf will only get one for me if ever i will be granted with the visa, actually sa june 22 na po yung interview ko, im very nervous already coz even if i have a job right now, im only receiving a minimum pay although i have my attestation and invitation letters from my boyfriend’s mom, but it doesnt guarantee that i will get the visa right?.
@marie, I just wanna share some details that might help your appilciation for what I know you need to have the insurance ready, meron insurance na you dont need to pay for it muna until you are granted a visa, you can call yung mga accredited insurance issuer na nakalagay sa website ng shengen visa or you can inquire sa mga travel agency. Good luck and your application. Sana you can share your experience with the embassy soon.
@marie, my friend na ng lodged last April(she got approved) , she wore a blouse with collar and slacks lang po. Simple lang. Maayos yung hair and medyo may lipstick and powder lang para presentable. Goodluck sa tin…
@SRM, salamat sa tips and yes goodluck sa atin. =)
Denied yung visa ko, ask ko lang if how many months do i have to wait to reapply coz i think wlang kasiguradohan ang pag appeal coz it takes time, or any idea what will i do?
thankyou @ roselyn…
guys i had my interview today..im so happy kasi all the staffs at swiss embassy are very nice and very friendly..that is not what i was expecting..i thought talaga masusungit..
and they are all young pa and magaganda ha lols..
so ayun sabi sakin magfollow up daw ako after 3-4 weeks kasi forward daw sa embassy sa bangkok yung application ko pero tinatakan yung passport ko ng “visa swiss embassy” ..so what do you think guys ok na ba application ko?
comments naman ha..and goodluck to everyone..
Godbless!!!
nice, what did they asked you?and how much money did you showed on them?
Hi Maricar, I will have interview also at swiss embassy 3 weeks from now. Its so nice to know that nice pala sila. Ang tagal pala ng processing 3 to 4 weeks. I thought mga 2weeks lang. I will be applying for visit visa. medyo kinakabahan na nga ako , kasi I went to an travel agency kanina for assistance pero parang they discourage me because there are chances of denials. Hay nakakaloka. Kelangan pa day samahan ng mga properties, title and show money to 1Million, thou I have a good job here and traveled to Uk and Japan, it does not gurantee daw of sure approval because ang mag iinvite sa kin is a male friend and mag iisip sila na baka di na ako umuwi. Goodluck to you Maricar, Im sure you will get the visa.
I will Pray for you maricar and goodluck and im sure you can make it gurl….
SRM: Really, you have’nt personally meet your host? It would be more nice if he/she visited you in your country even just twice, cause the Embassy might think on why would you visit him/her in his/ her country when you don’t know him personally? But I hope that they would honor your reasons and so nice of your friend hosting you to visit their country. Better if you follow what is stated on their visa application requirements and the best of luck to you.
Hi Claire, thank you for the wish of goodluck. Ive been thinking about it too… because everytime he tried to have scheduled to visit here, something always came up(emergency) so it didnt pushed thru, so we decided that I will be the one to come and visit. Its really sort of having a luck on applying for this, but we will never know until we try.
